Nebraska paycheck calculator
Nebraska asks for its own certificate, Form W-4N, because state law still allows a personal exemption credit that the federal W-4 no longer counts. Each allowance claimed on the W-4N takes a fixed sum off the annualised wage before the schedule is read. There is a single column, which head of household shares, and a married one, both graduated.

How Nebraska withholding is worked out
An employee whose federal W-4 dates from 2020 or later and who has filed no W-4N is withheld as single with no allowances, whatever their marital status, which is also where this page sits until its answers are changed. Larger employers have one more rule the figure here does not apply: an employer with more than a set number of employees must withhold at least a minimum share of each employee's taxable wages unless the employee documents a reason for less, so a stub from such an employer can show a higher Nebraska line than this page.
These are withholding figures: what an employer takes out of one paycheck, which is not the same calculation as the one on an annual return.
Wages are annualised before the schedule is read, so the figures below are annual.
