North Dakota paycheck calculator
North Dakota works from the federal Form W-4: for a form from 2020 or later it reads the filing status checked there and counts no allowances. Each status has its own annual table, single, married filing jointly and head of household, and each opens with a stretch of taxable wage on which nothing is withheld before the graduated rates begin.

How North Dakota withholding is worked out
A newly hired employee who has not handed in a W-4 is treated as single. An older W-4, from before 2020, still works by allowances, and North Dakota keeps separate tables for it; this page follows the method for the newer form only, so a stub based on an old form can differ. North Dakota takes its definition of wages from the one used for federal income tax withholding, so pay that falls outside the federal definition, such as a 401(k) deferral or a cafeteria plan premium, falls outside the North Dakota base too.
These are withholding figures: what an employer takes out of one paycheck, which is not the same calculation as the one on an annual return.
Wages are annualised before the schedule is read, so the figures below are annual.
